The success of the air freight forwarding industry

Even before, flying was a change. People then could not imagine a time without travel. All they want is to fly. That is why airplanes were born. Eventually, technology made it a reality for people to travel in an airplane close to the pilot.

People became restless as they started to think of some useful ways to use the airplane.

In 1910 the idea that an airplane could be used to transport cargo began. History reveals that a piece of silk was the first to be carried on an airplane. The cargo was transported from Dayton to Columbus, Ohio. This is considered the first demonstration of cargo in the air.

In 1919, another shipment took place.

A converted bomber was sent by American Railway Express. The shipment weighed 1,100 pounds and was brought from Washington D.C. to Chicago. Unfortunately, the plane and radiator froze and had to land in Ohio. However, this did not stop people from using the plane as a cargo carrier.

By the late 1920s, more airlines were operating as cargo carriers.

The creation of the carrier was used only for American business. Air freight helped them not only speed up the transportation of goods but also speed up the process.

Undeniably, the primitive stages of the air cargo business have seen remarkable growth.

Between 1927 and 1931 the number and size of shipments increased from 45,000 pounds to nearly a million pounds. Although there was some effort in planning and organizing the air cargo business, commercial air cargo did not operate until the end of World War II.

The 4 main known airlines, namely: American, United, TWA and Eastern formed Air Cargo Inc.

Air Cargo is active until the end of the world. But in 1944, United and TWA began to become independent and had their own air cargo business.

Many small plane owners wanted to be part of the air cargo industry but were not accepted. Big airlines don't want smaller airlines running in the business. One reason for this is the possibility that small airlines will undermine the established status of the industry. Another reason is the initial unwillingness to enter a competition.

Unfortunately, the small plane operators that tried fell to the curb. Only one survived - it was called "Flying Tigers". The Flying Tigers were successful because they carried both military and civilian cargo. And it was also known then as the largest in the air cargo transportation industry.

Despite the good start, the air freight business did not develop much. This did not bode well for business. Until a man by the name of Fred Smith opened his new air freight which is now known as Federal Express.

The air cargo industry today

Federal Express is now known as one of the most successful air carriers. With the help of modern technology, it started using air freight software to meet customer needs. Air freight software is the latest innovation for freight forwarders. It will solve any system issues as well as provide efficient and cost-effective services.

Today FedEx or Federal Express is linked to (UPS) United Parcel. The two carriers are now known as the most dependable and reliable air delivery services in the country.
